During a storm the Captain of a ship doesn't let the RUDDER do what it wants and flip from left to right and move around by the will of the storm. Instead he keeps a tight reign on the helm which controls the RUDDER and sets his course with the maps he has. Often times this course takes him directly into the storm to get to his destination.
In the same way when the storms of life come to you don't let your tongue (which is like a rudder) start saying things that it shouldn't.Spouting words here and there based on the pressure from the storm around you. But instead, like a skilled Captain chart your course with the map of God's Word follow it to safe harbors.
